As Chief Investment Officer, Mark brings over 27 years of financial services and money management experience to Vere Global Private Asset Management. Entering the money management industry in upon graduation from the University of Tennessee in 1992, he began his career as a junior investment analyst where he focused on investment analysis and portfolio management. In 1999, he moved to the global side of the industry, where he became a Senior Portfolio Manager and supervised a team of senior analysts. Here, Mark managed over $270 million in proprietary capital through a Global Long-Short strategy. This strategy consisted of global long/short equities, long/short fixed income and other hedging techniques. Since 2010, Mark has focused his attention on building the Vere Global investment program with an emphasis on changing the way clients’ assets are managed. Wall Street firms have developed a “herd” mentality to invest and allocate assets in a way that benefits the large brokerage firms through revenue sharing agreements, while giving clients sub-par results. Mark has developed a specialized focus on finding top money managers and combing them in asset allocation models to provide clients with better risk-adjusted returns as well as running a focused long-only equity portfolio. This service has resulted in higher client satisfaction and better risk management. Mark works directly with the financial advisor to insure that the advisors are well educated and up to date on recent developments in the financial markets. This helps the advisor to have an enhanced relationship with the client and at the same time helps the client to become a better investor.
When Mark is not working, he enjoys spending time camping with his 12 year old son and traveling with his wife. Mark is a history buff and enjoys touring battle fields , visiting museums and is an avid student of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Previously, Mark was an Executive Officer in the Army National Guard. He currently resides in Collierville, TN with his family and his dogs Mic Dogger, Doc, and Grey.
